HyperPo 6 - Known Issues
General Issues
- text parsing is currently done by pattern matching rather than a true XML parse - this is
done for maximum speed and portability, though it is easily broken by more complex pages;
eventually an option will be provided for a "quick" parse, based on patters, or a "correct"
parse using an available SAX XML parser
- a related issue is character encoding that's probably not handled very well or consistently
Browser-Specific Issues
- Camino 0.7
(OSX)
- strange behaviour for the file upload button (premature warning against incompatible
file formats, though this does not prevent files from being uploaded
correctly)
- pull-down menus aren't hierarchical on the results pages
- Safari v1.0beta (Mac OSX)
- Safari sometimes does not send the referer URL when opening a new window
or tab (can cause HyperPo to display the login page)
- Safari does not show the value of the show/hide button for Advanced Options
- Safari does not respect the character encoding in the flash boxes and generated
help windows (can cause Unicode characters to be displayed incorrectly)
- Safari does not display a scroll-bar in the results window (the frames contain
scrollbars, but the initial summary and the add corpus screens are
missing scrollbars)
- Safari does not warn against incompatible source file formats (though it should)
- Internet Explorer 5 (OSX)
- areas in the collapsible menus go blank but don't collapse (this doesn't affect
functionality of the form elements)
- Opera, OmniWeb (OSX)
- DOM support in these browsers is very shaky - they are not recommended for HyperPo
(Normally HyperPo displays this document in a new Window. To continue with HyperPo,
close this window.)
